Pilgrimage to Tibet with H.E. Lho Ratna Rinpoche and Lama Mark Webber
with H.E. Lho Ratna Rinpoche &
Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber)
Tour Dates: September 1st to 17th, 2024
Embark on a pilgrimage with H.E. Lho Ratna Rinpoche and Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber) to honour the esteemed Lho Ontul Rinpoche.
This pilgrimage holds special significance as we accompany Lho Ratna Rinpoche, who will be transporting relics of his father, the late Kyabje Lho Ontul Rinpoche, to his home monastery in Tibet.
The journey to Lho Lungkar Gon Monastery promises to be a meritorious activity for all with a heartfelt connection to this precious great Rinpoche. The trip will feature many spontaneous moments of connection with many highly revered Lamas, yogis and yoginis, transmisions, places where Dzogchen treasures were revealed, historically important places of Dharma like Samye Monastery and long-term Dharma practitioners.
We also aim to support the construction and consecration of a special chorten to house these sacred relics at Lho Lungkar Gon; it was Lho Ontül Rinpoche’s home Monastery in Tibet and Lho Ratna Rinpoche is one of the main Tulku’s of the monastery.
This may be the last opportunity for a trip of this quality and significance, especially if you are a student of Lho Ontul Rinpoche and a heart connection with Ratna Rinpoche, Lama Gyaltsen and these precious teachings.
All those wanting to join Lho Ratna Rinpoche and Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen on the pilgrimage to Tibet are to express their intent by filling out the application(https://forms.gle/HCN33cMBfcVCieUb8). All applications will be reviewed by Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen or Ratna Rinpoche, as this is a focused pilgrimage. Upon receiving approval, applicants will be notified, and a non-refundable deposit will be required to hold your place.

Profound Meditations and Contemplations with
Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber)
We are pleased to announce that Lama Mark Webber will be teaching and giving commentary on a famous Indian Buddhist text by Nagarjuna,
The Bodhicittavivarana—A commentary on the Awakening Mind.
Nagarjuna, a famous Indian Buddhist saint of the 2nd century CE wrote an extraordinarily concise outline for the path of uncovering and familiarizing oneself with the awake and compassionate mind. Though they are very deep instructions, it is gradual, progressive and accessible to all interested practitioners. Within four classes, Lama Mark Webber will bring the text alive and give numerous meditations for discovering or enhancing lucid awakeness—our inherent mind’s nature, the uncontrived and natural meditation.
This is an excellent semi-retreat opportunity; Lama Mark will be available to give personal guidance if requested.

We are pleased to announce that Lama Mark Webber has accepted our invitation to teach Dharma in Ottawa. He will teach and give guidance with a weekend of five Dharma classes. Lama Webber will give commentary and explanations on a profound text called Instruction on the View of the Mahāyāna: Clarifying the Two Truths. It was written by the great yogi and scholar Patrul Orgyen Rinpoche (1808–1887). Guidance will be given on the two truths, what is to be accomplished, and how to put these instructions into meditation and daily practice. This extraordinary text is lucid and full of direct Dzogchen instructions.
DANA
Suggested donation for a class is $25 - $30, or whatever you can afford. Traditionally in the East, and at Dharma classes, there is no course fee for teachings. Dharma is offered freely. However, by tradition, students offer dana in return for teachings. It is this unique cycle of mutual respectful dependence that has kept the Dharma thriving for almost 2600 years. Each time we receive teachings, it is an opportunity to consciously practice dana (which translates into English as “generosity”). Since the teachings are priceless, one determines the kind and amount of dana according to one's heart. Let your donations reflect not only what you can afford but also the effort, hard work and years of dedication that have been spent in order that you might receive the great benefit of these teachings. A dana bowl for direct contributions to the teacher will be present at all talks and the dana contributed to that bowl goes directly to the teacher.
At these Teachings, there will be a second bowl out for you to support Crystal Staff’s aspiration to provide financial help with visiting teachers’ travel and accommodations. Your dana to the second bowl supports our Dharma community’s ability to bring Teachers to Ottawa.

Biography
Ratna Rinpoche (Orgyen Drodul Dorje Rinpoche) was born in Mandi (Zahor) India in 1980. Numerous auspicious signs accompanied his birth, and accomplished yogis had clear visions that the son of Lho Ontul Rinpoche and Tashi Dolma was a being of great scope. In 2003 he was officially recognized by H.H. Dalai Lama and H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche as the ‘Quality Emanation’ of the 4th Lho Drongtrul, the great early 20th century Drikung Treasure revealer Orgyen Lho Nuden Dorje (1835-1902).
Rinpoche studied Buddhist philosophy and Tibetan grammar at Drikung Jangchub Ling Monastery in Dehra Dun, took his monks vows from H.H. Drikung Chetsang Rinpoche, trained at Dzongzsar Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö Institute in Bir, India with great Khenpos, and studied at Sherab Ling Monastery. He has received many important transmissions and empowerments from great masters, such as H.H. the Dalai Lama, H.H. Sakya Trinzin, H.H. Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, H. E. Lho Ontul Rinpoche, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, and H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche.
Ratna Rinpoche, now leads the Drikung Kagyu Monastery in Tso Pema India. Rinpoche is actively engaged in establishing an academy and regularly visits his main seat at Lungkar Ogmin Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery in Nangchen, Tibet. He has traveled often supporting his Father throughout North America, Malaysia, and Europe teaching, translating, and giving transmissions of Dharma to students in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. His oral translations and explanations, born of study and meditation, bear the unmistakable stamp of great love, knowledge, and understanding of the Dharma.

Honouring the Beloved Kyabje Lho Ontul Rinpoche
On November 20, 2022, a great, wondrous being, our beloved Lama Lho Ontul Rinpoche passed away into the clear light of mind for all.
For those with a connection to Ontul Rinpoche, now is an important time to meditate and pray for his swift rebirth. H.H. Chetsang Rinpoche has written a beautiful prayer of rebirth that many of us are reciting. You can hear his son, Lho Ratna Rinpoche chanting this prayer. Also, allow our minds to merge with our Lama’s mind. Let’s all take time to meditate together in his energy of luminous awakeness. Lho Ratna Rinpoche also advised us to especially practice the Seven Line Prayer of Guru Rinpoche and the meditation called A Shower of Blessings
by Ju Mipham Rinpoche.
Many of us are combining a great abundance of these
prayers with the Drikung Yangzab Padmasattva Practice
or with Vajrasattva.

The generation stage or creation phase, also known as "the phase of imagination" and "the yoga of fabrications" is the first phase of tantric deity yoga in the Unsurpassed Yoga Tantra. Ju Mipham defines the generation stage as follows: 'accessing the purity and equality of appearance and existence through conceptual creations and training in
accord with the view that ascertains the meaning of the natural continuum of the ground'. The completion stage, also known as "the yoga of the natural state," is the second stage of Unsurpassed Yoga Tantra, Ju Mipham, writes that in the completion stage (also known as the "path of the innate" or "path of direct perception"), 'the profound methodical pith instructions actualize the tantra of the ground, the great
purity and equality that dwells within as the mandala of spontaneous presence.

Two Truths
Commentary by Lho Ontul Rinpoche
Two Online Classes: March 19 & 26
The Buddha's teaching of Dharma is based on Two Truths, a truth of worldly convention and an ultimate truth. Those who do not understand the distinction drawn between these Two Truths do not understand the Buddha's profound Truth. Without a foundation in the conventional truth, the significance of the ultimate truth cannot be taught. Without understanding the significance of the ultimate, liberation is not achieved.

Introduction to Je Gampopa’s The Jewel Ornament of Liberation
By Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber)
Public Online Class on March 5th, 2022 at 9:30 AM PST / 12:30 PM EST / 6:30 PM Central European Time / March 6th, 6:30 AM New Zealand NZDT
Je Gampopa’s famous Jewel Ornament of Liberation is one of the great masterpieces of the entire Mahayana path; clear, precise and liberating no matter which century we live in.
The Translator, Khenpo Konchog Gyaltsen Rinpoche, says: “Khunu Lama Rinpoche said that this was the first Lam Rim text written in Tibet and that all the later great Lam Rim texts were based on the Jewel Ornament of Liberation.” And H.H. the Dalai Lama writes in the foreword: “I would like to remind the reader that it is not enough simply to know the meaning of the Dharma—we must always make an effort to implement it in our day-to-day life and to sincerely follow the way of practice that Milarepa and Gampopa have shown us.”
Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen will give a pithy introduction to this fundamental text, thereby laying out the benefits of putting such ancient teaching into practice in our challenging times of the 21st Century.
This class is the opening class of both a Two Month Series of Online Classes and a Three Month In-person Retreat on Galiano Island, held in the Namgyal Choling Gompa on Galiano Island, B.C.

The Twelve Examples of Illusion: profound supports to realize awakeness
with Lama Yongdu Chokyi Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber)
Zoom Teachings on Saturday & Sunday, May 22-23 & June 5-6 & June 12-13 at 11:30 am PST
Lama Mark Webber will give teachings and meditation practices based on the classic twelve examples of illusion from the Mahayana and Theravadin traditions; e.g., bubbles, rainbows, echos, lightning and mirror. Contemplation on these examples allows an easier access to meditating on emptiness. Through traditional Asian examples, western science, pithy instructions and contemplations, Lama Webber shows that all of our perception and experience is illusory. To not know the extent of fabrication in all that we experience is a primary source of suffering. Insight into illusory phenomena, called completion stage with support, leads to a great wakefulness.

The Single Sufficient Path of Mahamudra - Teachings and Meditations on Gampopa’s essence text
with Lama Yongdu Chokyi Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber)
Zoom Teachings on Saturday & Sunday, May 8-9 at 11:30 am PST
Part II on Saturday & Sunday, May 15-16 at 11:30 am PST
Mahamudra, or 'great seal’, is the view of all experience as it is. The great seal is also the meditation and the fruition—total awakeness and compassion. It describes the preparations, graduated steps we take and the natural mode of mind free of all obscurations.
We are pleased to announce that Lama Mark Webber will be giving a commentary and instructions on Je Gampopa’s (11th cent.) essence text: The Single Sufficient Path of Mahamudra. This is an elegant and direct instruction of the essence-ground of mind, the meditations and path we need to follow and the result; the inseparable unity of wisdom and compassion. Je Gampopa was one of Tibet’s greatest masters.

Unfolding Confidence in Dharma: The Path of Freedom
with Lama Yongdu Chokyi Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber)
Zoom Teachings requested by Queenstown Dharma Centre, New Zealand
March 19 at 2 pm PDT/ 5 pm EDT, New Zealand: 10 am one day later. April 9 & 10, April 16 & 17, April 30 & May 1 at 3 pm PDT / 6 pm EDT, New Zealand: 10 am one day later
Since everything we experience and think about is formed in our mind, if we want lasting freedom, we need to come to know mind: innate freedom and luminous compassion. This is the Dharma. Over a two month period, Lama Mark will be giving teachings and directing meditations for practitioners at the Queenstown Dharma Centre. He will begin with exploring what is Buddha Dharma and how we generally unfold through many paths, levels, understandings and liberative experiences. The Dharma has over two thousand years of tradition, including the Buddha and hundreds of thousands of practitioner’s awakening experiences, teachings and meditations for every type of person. That can be confusing! Here, we are going to explore the essential threads or the core of the Dharma, both through understanding, then meditative practice. Lama Mark will use as a guide, one of the most extraordinary and authoritative texts; Nagarjuna’s Bodhicittavivarana - A commentary on the Awakening Mind. The sessions are for all levels of understanding and meditative experience.
March session
What is the Dharma?
• What are the differences between tranquility, insight, meditative experiences and realization?
• How to relax our mind but be awake, bright and compassionate?

The Unique Dharma teachings of the Single Intention (Gongchik)
with Khenchen Nyima Gyaltsen
A weekend of online Dharma Teachings, December 26 & 27, 2020 at 6:00 am PST
It is said in the Great Overview of the Single Intention: For example, the four great rivers of Jambudvipa with their five hundred subordinate rivers, streams, ponds, springs, water-falls, and so forth – all the different kinds of water – have distinct colors, smells, functions, and potentials, but when they have gone into the great ocean, they all have the same salty taste. Likewise, all [the teachings that the buddhas] taught considering the different dispositions, faculties, and interests of sentient beings – the eighty-four thousand groups of Dharma teachings, the three collections, the four classes of tantras, the twelve branches of teachings, the different approaches through the vehicles and paths – there are none that are not included in the great ocean of the absolute nature, the meaning of the ultimate, single, unborn mahamudra. Therefore, it is a single intention.
