Trekchö and the Three Statements Translation Project

Translation and Publication Project (NYBCC in cooperation with NYBCE)

Picture1

On Galiano Island in September 2014, His Eminence Lho Ontul Rinpoche gave an extraordinary cycle of teachings on Trekchö and the Three Statements of Garab Dorje — a profound transmission central to the Dzogchen tradition. Teachings were offered over nine days, with Trekchö instructions given specifically from September 24-28.

Lho Karma Ratna Rinpoche and Lama Chökyi Gyaltsen’s heartfelt wish is that these precious teachings reach sincere Dharma practitioners around the world.

To fulfill both Ratna Rinpoche and Lama Gyaltsen’s commitment to make these teachings available, and with your generous support, the Namgyal Yangzab Buddhist Community of Canada (NYBCC) in partnership with the Namgyal Yangzab Buddhist Community of Europe (NYBCE) are working together to translate, preserve, and share these teachings in both book and e-book formats.

The Project, The Team & Our Goal

A dedicated team is already in place (see details below) and the process of bringing this text to life involves several key stages.

We estimate the total cost of this project at CAD $24,000 (approx. € 15,000). This covers transcription, translation, editing, layout, and publication.

Details about the Project and Team

This publication is well supported and involves several key stages of development:

  • Transcription of Ontul Rinpoche’s words in Tibetan script by
Khenpo Könchog Tamphel, an experienced translator with a close connection to Kyabje Lho Ontul Rinpoche.
  • English translation of approximately 120 pages by Doris Unterthurner, with
guidance from Khenpo Tamphel for clarification and accuracy.
  • Review of the English translation in consultation with our teachers.
  • Design and layout for both print and digital versions, stewarded with care
and aiming to fulfill the highest expectations of our teachers.
  • Print and digital publication of the completed book, making these rare Dharma
    treasures accessible worldwide.

Khenpo Könchog Tamphel had a longstanding and close relationship with Lho Ontul Rinpoche and also with Lho Ratna Rinpoche, the monastery in India, and with Lama Chökyi Gyaltsen. He previously served as interpreter for Kyabje Ontul Rinpoche’s teachings and is currently working in various capacities for the 84000 Translation Project, the Tsadra Foundation and the University of Vienna. Read his biography here.

Doris Unterthurner, president of NYBCEurope, is leading the project as principal translator. In this work, she is supported by the Namgyal Yangzab Buddhist Community of Canada (NYBCC).
